Al Simhara is a pre-made destination sub-world that was introduced in The Sims 3: World Adventures along with the other worlds Shang Simla and Champs Les Sims.

Overview[]

Al Simhara

Al Simhara is an ancient land built against a river, full of magic and mystery. It is a land of mummies, pyramids, and crocodiles. It is found in Egypt and features activities and items drawn from Egyptian culture. The name is a reference to the Sahara Desert of Egypt. This town features fully explorable tombs and hidden tombs, including famous Egyptian landmarks such as the Pyramids, the Sphinx, and Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Sims can explore these landmark tombs, thereby undertaking adventures. The company MorcuCorp features strongly in these adventures. It is an excellent subhood for Sims to improve their Photography skill. There are numerous pre-made families in Al Simhara, although they all, unfortunately, lack description texts and money. A trip to Al Simhara costs §1600 for one Sim and §1000 for each additional Sim.

Features[]

Al Simhara All
  • At night a gentle glow lights up at the bases of the Pyramids.
  • The entire world is so hot that there is a visible heat haze during the daylight hours.
  • Another mine monster is found here, in addition to those in Sunset Valley, Riverview, and Twinbrook.
  • Mummies will be lurking the tombs in this destination, and they can curse Sims.
  • There are fewer sims in this destination than in Sunset Valley, Riverview, or Twinbrook.

Exclusive Items[]

Comparisons with Giza[]

While Al Simhara is based on the real world location Giza, Egypt, there are several differences mostly due to limiations on world size and to add more tombs for adventure:

  • Abu Simbel, Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, and Ruins of Karnak are not located within Giza.
  • The Great Pyramid is the northernmost of the Pyramids of Giza in the real world. In game, it is between the two smaller pyramids.
  • Al Simhara is located next to a sea, Giza is located 180 km south of the Mediterranean Sea.
  • Al Simhara has a small village near the pyramids while Giza is a large city (3rd largest city in Egypt) that extends near the pyramids.
  • There is no real world counterpart to The Pyramid of the Sky.
  • The Great Sphinx in the real world is fully solid (no tomb inside). However, it is rumored to contain an ancient library known as Hall of Records under the Sphinx, its existance is uncertain.
  • There are only the Great Pyramids Al Simhara, while the Giza Necropolis there are smaller pyramids along with the three.

All Sims among these families have the Egyptian Culture hidden trait. NPCs generated in Al Simhara do not have this trait, instead they have the hidden trait connected to their job (e.g. Pizza Appreciator for Pizza Delivery), and other Sims such as Explorers have no hidden traits at all.

The memory puzzle at Archeology Dig

The Sims 3: World Adventures (smartphone) allows the player to send their sim abroad, either for §150 for an economy flight, or §250 for a first class flight. Egypt is one of the three locations.

In Egypt, a sim can complete two tours: Pyramids[1] and Sphinx[2]. Both tours are free, and consist of a presentation of various images of the site along with fun facts about it.

A sim can also visit the Archeology Dig, where they can complete a memory puzzle to find an ancient artifact. Artifacts can later be sold in the home neighborhood.

Next to the Archeology Dig is a Market, where a sim can shop for produce, buy street food, or practice bartering.

Trivia[]

The Llamafall

The Llamafall

  • In The Sims 4: Get Together, there's a fountain which is said to be an exact replica of a fountain unearthed in Al Simhara.
  • In the texture files for The Sims 2: Bon Voyage, there are two placeholder unused textures called wall-panel-hieroglyphics and wall-stone-pyramid, suggesting that a desert destination may have originally been planned for that expansion.
  • One of the empty lots, The Island Estate, is notable for being inaccessible by land, by water, and by tombs, the only pre-placed lot in a Maxis-built world to have this distinction after ocean swimming was introduced to The Sims 3. After Patch 12, it was possible to place a custom lot across the water gap to allow for a pedestrian bridge to the island, but placing it would cause all fish to disappear from the river. Changes made to Edit Town at later points (Most likely around Patch 42) removed the ability to create such a bridge.
