Bands are a feature introduced in The Sims 3: Late Night expansion pack. Players can create bands, invite/kick out members,[1] hold practice sessions and perform at concerts.[2] New musical instruments and skills (bass skill, drum skill and piano skill) are added as well.

This feature is not to be confused with the option to play instruments together in The Sims 2: University. In Late Night, you are able to form a formal band with a name and are able to receive gigs if you have self-employed at least one of the band members.

Gigs come as opportunities and a band will need to check the newspaper or talk to people to check where the good places to play are.[2]

If a Sim in a band is having a conversation with another band member, there will be an option to change the name of their band or to kick the other Sim out of the band.

During a performance, band members can attempt to "make a sweet move".[2]

Strangely, Toad Sims[TS3:SN] don't appear to be able to form a new band.

Band (career)[]

Main article: Skill career#Band

Sims are not actually required to have Band as their career to receive or complete gigs (Far from it, in fact), but registering as a self-employed Band worker at the city hall can help give extra monetary bonuses (Pretty large ones for the higher career levels) and weekly salaries.

Trivia[]

  • Completing Gig Master challenge does not have any effect despite its description saying it boosts earnings from performing a gig. Having The Next Big Thing lifetime reward does, however.
