Birthday

From The Sims Wiki, a database for The Sims series that anyone can edit

This article describes features that are only available in The Sims 2 and The Sims 3.

Birthdays occur when Sims go to their next stage of life, which can be one of the following:

  1. Baby > Toddler
  2. Toddler > Child
  3. Child > Teen
  4. Teen >
  5. Adult > Elder
  6. Elder > Death

Whenever a Sim is two days away from the next age transition, a warning will pop up in the top right corner alerting you that you only have two days to either get your aspiration score up (if your Sim is in the negative), or you'll see one stating that you have nothing to worry about since your Sim's aspiration is already high. Twenty-four hours after that warning, you will get another alert telling you that your Sim can age. You can either buy a birthday cake in Buy Mode or you can just directly click on the Sim (as long as they are not babies (the grow up self interaction can be used for a baby if it is made selectable with a cheat)) and choose grow up. In order for a baby to grow up, your Sim must take the baby to a cake or wait until they (autonomously) get the interaction to "Help Grow Up" eventually. Sims also grow up well or grow up badly depending on their aspiration score at the time of transitioning. You should wait until your Sim is out of the red before aging your Sims.

[edit] Notes

  • Sims cannot age after 18:00[TS2] 00:00 [TS3]
  • Using a birthday cake brings everyone on the lot to watch and blow noise-makers.[TS2]
  • A birthday cake will grow the Sim to the next life stage regardless of how many days remain. However, this only works once per Sim.[TS3]
  • A Sim can throw a birthday party but it is not required to age.

[edit] Player Tips

  • Always buy cake for babies because of the time restrictions on when a Sim ages, Sims may be constantly interrupted by the autonomous interaction but never succeed in aging the baby.[TS2]
