When Flo and Flat met in high school, sparks flew. Life has never been easy but as long as they are together they find a way to have fun. When Flat's brother Buck showed up with two kids and no wife, they just invited him to move in. The more the merrier.
The Broke family are a playable family who appear in Pleasantview in The Sims 2, and in Riverview in The Sims 3 Store. It both games, as their last name suggests, they are fairly short on Simoleons.
In The Sims 2, the Broke family resides in Pleasantview. It consists of Brandi Broke, widow of Skip; Dustin, a teen going steady with Angela Pleasant; and Beau, a toddler. When the family is first played, Brandi is pregnant with her third child from the deceased Skip. Brandi is also the daughter of Bob and Betty Newbie, a married couple introduced in The Sims. However, she does not appear in The Sims.
As the name suggests, they have a monetary situation, supposedly because Brandi has just lost her husband and source of income. The family has around §930 in funds, which wouldn't be so bad if it had any source of income other than Dustin's teen job. The family has a net worth of around §25,000, and Brandi does have one or two things which can be sold for cash, but that's not a long-term solution to the family's financial problems.
The Sims 3 Store
In The Sims 3, the Broke family lives in Riverview. In the Riverview graveyard, there is the grave of Bernard Broke, who died as an adult from drowning. He may be the father or brother of Flat and Buck, but he is not featured in the family tree.
Of all of the family members in The Sims 3, only Flat, Flo, and Skip are mentioned in The Sims 2. What happened to the others is not known. No members of the family appear in The Sims, though all of them except Flat and Flo are young enough to have been alive during that time.
In The Sims 3, the Brokes appear to have either the traits of Slob and Party Animal. Skip and Mary Lu (who is a Broke by marriage) are the only ones who don't have either of those traits.
