The Sims: Deluxe Edition was released in 2002 for Windows. It included the core game; The Sims: Livin' Large; and some exclusive content, including 25+ objects and 50+ clothing choices. It also included The Sims Creator, a separate program which can be used to edit and customize Sim clothing.
Though it was released after The Sims: Vacation, and uses the Hot Date version of the engine, it does not include some features which were introduced in The Sims: Hot Date.
The Sims: Double Deluxe combines The Sims with the first two expansion packs in the series, The Sims: Livin' Large and The Sims: House Party. The Sims: Double Deluxe also includes The Sims Creator, a customization tool for creating Sim characters. Players can recreate any Sim imaginable.
The Sims Double Deluxe also includes a Bonus Disk, containing exclusive African and Asian-themed skins, objects, walls and floors. The Bonus Disk also includes downloads that were previously available on the official website and also included with some expansions:
The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume One is a compilation that contains The Sims: Unleashed and The Sims: House Party. It is followed by The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume Two and The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume Three.
The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume Two is a compilation that contains The Sims: Hot Date and The Sims: Makin' Magic. It is preceded by The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume One and followed by The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume Three.
The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume Three is a compilation that contains The Sims: Vacation and The Sims: Superstar. It is preceded by The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume One and The Sims: Expansion Collection Volume Two.
The Sims: Complete Collection is an all-in-one collection that includes The Sims, all seven of its expansion packs, bonus content that was included in The Sims: Deluxe Edition and The Sims: Double Deluxe, and The Sims Creator. The compilation was released for Windows in Australia and New Zealand under the name The Sims: Full House.
It is designed for "all or nothing" installation. Players cannot choose which expansions they wish to install, but must install the entire product.
An alternative revision named "The complete collection of the Sims" was released in the UK, and contains The Sims: Triple Deluxe along with all additional expansion packs on individual discs. This 12-disc compilation allows the user to install the expansion packs individually.
While it was sold at most retailers when it was first released, the game is now very hard to find online or in stores, along with other original Sims games. Due to lack of availability, copies of the game can range from US$30.00 to US$200.00.
The Sims Complete is also the name of a software bundle including The Sims, SimCity 3000 Unlimited, Sim Theme Park and The Sims Online.
