Marty looked up from his paperback novel to see his brother, Donnie, coming along with Dustin and Richie. "What's up little brother?" Donnie asked.

"Not a lot." Marty simply stated.

"Well, that's cool. I'll leave you with Richie and Dustin. I'll see you after college." After Donnie left, Dustin and Richie attempted to make conversation with Marty. That guy was really shy! He had obviously taken it from his mother. Marty gazed into the distance to see Trevor, a bully, march over. "Hey there, Marty-Boy! How's your missing grandmother? Maybe she's gone because she never wanted to be with that pathetic grandfather of yours."

"That's enough!" Trevor noticed Dustin had spoken, his face an angry shade of crimson. "Mortimer Goth is a great man. He had more to his name at the age of fourteen than you will ever have in your whole life!"

"Say that again Dusty, and you'll be joining your father."

"DON'T MENTION MY FATHER!" And with that, Dustin swung a hard punch which took Trevor by surprise. Before Trevor could recover and attack Dustin, Richie got involved. Before anyone knew what was happening, all three boys were all fighting- 2 versus 1. A teacher came over to break up the fight, and the boys were all sent to the headmaster's office.

Richie sat on the park bench, nursing a black eye. Angela had gone to get drinks from a nearby shop. Lilith came over and joined him, asking how he got the black eye. "Got in a fight and got suspended for two weeks. Nearly blinded myself from the broken glass."

"Broken glass?" Richie held up the bent remains of his glasses. "Oh, that broken glass."

"From now on, I'm wearing contacts. It's for my own visual safety." Lilith pulled a weak smile.

"Richie, I know how you feel. Getting suspended is not a good feeling." Lilith got suspended at the age of fourteen for a week for setting off the fire sprinklers- but it was genuinely an accident, and experiment gone wrong. Richie felt awful. Lilith decided one thing. She moved closer and gave him a hug. After all, what are friends for?

Angela was walking along with two cans in her hand when she saw Richie and Lilith. Without thinking, she dived into the bushes. When she gazed up, she saw the two sitting side by side. Angela listened in carefully.

"Yeah... I agree... in the future, we'll share our lives together..."

"We'll always remain in touch, right?"

"Of course Lilith! You're one of my best friends!"

"Thanks Richie. That means a lot to me"

Angela's mouth was hanging wide open. "He couldn't..." What were they planning?

"Hey Angela." It was Dustin!

"Dustin? What are you doing? Get down here!" She grabbed him by his shirt collar and dragged him down.

"What's going on?" Dustin asked

Angela was close to tears. "I think Richie's developed feelings for Lilith. They're talking about a future together! Without me!" She stood up and started a brisk walk to the bench. "Richard John Hutchworth! I heard what you were talking about!" Richie stood up, a puzzled look on his face.

"Angie! What are you talking about?"

"Why is SHE better? I thought you loved me!"

"I do, Angie! But I-"

"I don't care! I don't know what I saw in you! But I know one thing- meeting you was the biggest mistake I have EVER made! And Lilith?"

"You'll be lucky if Dirk doens't hear about this! Sorry Lils, but it looks like you're out of luck, because he WILL find out!" And with that, she ran off, tears flowing from her eyes. Lilith felt her eyes filling up with tears. "If she tells him," she whispered "it'll be over. Dirk wouldn't give it a second thought."
