Paulette Dortheimer is a member of the 6th generation of the wealthy Dortheimer Legacy. She is among the most good-hearted people of the family and among the only ones that care more of other than themselves. She sacrificed everything for the sake of her kinfolks.
Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, How I Wonder What You Are
Paulette was born in Desiderata Valley to Marcia Dortheimer and her husband Charles. As Marcia cut off the bridges with her family, she never knew any other Dortheimer other than her mother.
As Marcia and Charles were parents for the first time, they didn't really know about how to take care of children and were rather gauche with Paulette, although they quickly became accustomed with that, teaching her successfully all of her toddler skills.
Up Above The World So High, Like A Diamond In The Sky
Her childhood years were at first really peaceful... and perhaps even a little too much. Her parents were really concerned about her and sheltered her too much. As a result, she was kind of disconnected from the real life world and lived in some kind of fairy-tale world where evil and pain did not exist.
She even had her Prince Charming. Her parents invited two of their friends, Midge and Roberto Peacock to live with them. And the two had a son who was Paulette's age, named Gilbert. The two were best friend forever and could supports being separated from each other. They were sure they would marry each other when they grow up.
As a result of wanting desperately to protect their children from pain and problems, Marcia, Charles, Midge and Roberto hid the Peacock's divorce from them.
When The Blazing Sun is Gone, When He Nothing Shines Upon
However, Gilbert's and Paulette's enchanted world fell apart when every adult in the household except Marcia died struck by a satellite. To get things worse, Marcia was utterly distraught over the event and fell depressed. She had to hire a nanny, Mallory Day, to take care of the children.
Then You Show Your Little Light, Twinkle Twinkle All The Night
When Paulette and Gilbert grew into Teens, they realized how much Marcia was weak and depressed and they decided to take care of her, now that they were mature enough to do so. The brightened her day by mollycoddling her and spending time with her. But Marcia's wound were too deep to heal and she still felt really bad.

Marcia was incredibly grateful to Gilbert and Paulette, but she couldn't do anything for them in return. She had to quit her job in Architecture and the household had no more income. Gilbert and Paulette tried to convince Marcia to ask some money to her many wealthy family members, but Marcia firmly refused to do so, as she still loathed her family, which she saw as nothing more than gold-hungry, self-centered and mean people since her mother Pekoe and her sisters murdered her father Rémi.
For You Never Shut Your Eye, Till The Sun Is In The Sky
Paulette and Gilbert were awfully worried about Marcia, as her health was not getting better, despite their constant nursing. They had no social life and spent a lot of time at Marcia's bedside.
When they were old enough to go to university, they really wanted to go there and lead successful studies in order to become as rich as the rest of their dreaded family. However, they sacrificed these college years they dreamt about and spent those at home instead in order to not leave Marcia alone until her utter recovery. They were kind of saddened at their sacrifice but deep inside their hearts, they knew that they had made the right choice.
And When All The Pain Is Gone, You'll Be Proud Of What You've Done
After years and years of intense care, Marcia finally got slowly back on her feet. Paulette and Gilbert were overjoyed at Marcia's tardy yet relieving healing, and when they grew into Adult, the two got married and they had a lovely daughter, Emma.
Emma illuminated the lives of everyone in the house, especially Marcia. The latter translocated all the love she had for her husband onto her granddaughter, and she spoiled her a lot. However, all the years of inactivity and sadness severely weakened Marcia and she eventually died peacefully after being finally happy again.
Now You'll Be Allowed To Rest, Without By Pain Being Oppressed
Even if Marcia's death was a great shock that darkened everyone in the house, Paulette and Gilbert felt like they were "freed" from the latter's pain and finally could live for themselves and not for Marcia. Meanwhile, they knew that Marcia would be glad to leave this world that only brought her infirmity and sorrow for most of her life.
They also resolved to beg for money to their relatives. They met most of their family at Charline Dortheimer's funerals in Riverblossom Hills and developped a strong bond with their distant cousin Margaux, who was a rich businesswoman from Barnacle Bay, and she invited them for a vacation.
When Paulette and Gilbert arrived on the small tropical island, they were amazed by its beauty. The two never had seen anything but Desiderata Valley in their lives. and discovered Barnacle Bay's warm beach and pleasant dwellers. They enjoyed their stay a lot, and finally made some friends after years of lack of social life.
They also loved their cousin's house, which was much, much bigger than the one they have in Desiderata Valley.
Yet Life Is Really Malign, And Your Health Will Soon Decline
When they came back from their tropical trip, they were decided to travel again. But they couldn't. Paulette effectively contracted a disease and her health soon decreased, inescapably. Gilbert was desperate to see his wife in this state and did not want to live the dark years of Marcia's depression again.
However, fate would exempt him from the long and cruel anguish, as Paulette died in less than one week. Gilbert then had to raise their daughter all alone. Hopefully, Margaux learnt about Paulette's tragic an untimely death, and she invited Gilbert and Emma in order to help the widower raising Emma, not letting the two all alone.
Gilbert brought Marcia's, Charles's and Paulette's urns and when he entered the taxi that brought them to the airport, he glared one last time at the small mansion that house most o his life, but also all his suffering and pain. Then he looked away, staring at the road that would lead him to a new life, far from this mansion and the bad memories it contained.
Though You Said Your Last Goodbye, You Still Twinkle In The Sky
Gilbert however never forgot about his wife, and she thought about her nearly all the time. Emma grew up to be just like her mother, and when many many years later Gilbert passed away, he finally reunited with his wife and "lived" happily ever after.
