Restorable junk cars are hobby objects found in The Sims 2: FreeTime and in Roaring Heights, a downloadable world available from The Sims 3 Store.[1]

The One Man's Junk Car by Mechanically Minded is a hobby object featured in The Sims 2: FreeTime. It is found in the Hobbies/Miscellaneous section of Buy mode, and costs §800—making it the cheapest vehicle in the game. Like other cars, it must be placed on a driveway. While an unfinished car can be placed in a Sim's inventory, it remains linked to the driveway section it was on, and that driveway section is still considered to be "in use" by the car. The unfinished car can be placed back where it was, and Sims can continue working on it, but no other car can use that spot.
Working on the car builds Mechanical skill, though only half as quickly as studying, and also builds enthusiasm for the Tinkering hobby. A Sim can work on the body or on the engine, and one Sim can work on the body while another works on the engine. If the car is not being worked on, a Sim can rev the engine. This does not appear to be required, but adds a touch of realism. Fully restoring either the body or engine takes about six game hours of labor, but Sims will probably need to take breaks, as working on the car is hard on the comfort, energy, and hygiene motives. While a Sim is working on the engine, the engine may backfire and belch black smoke, which will cause the Sim to stop working on it. This can give the Sim a boost of Energy.
When the car is fully restored, the player can click on it and select a paint option. After the Sim has finished painting the car, it will become the Awesome Customized Car, and will be drivable. If the Sim had not previously finished restoring a car, he or she will also get a special memory.
If the car is sold in Buy mode, it has an initial value of §5200. If The Sims 2: Open for Business is installed, it can be sold in a business.
After the car is finished, there may be a delay before options other than "Sit In Car" will be available when clicking on it. If this happens, have a Sim sit in the car, then click on an area outside of the car to have the Sim get out. After the Sim gets out, all options should be available when clicking on the car, and all in-the-car options will be available while the Sim is sitting in the car.
The Awesome Customized Car is a classic-style muscle car which generally resembles a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro, but with an older Nissan Skyline's rear lights. It has the same comfort, energy, and fun stats as the Yomoshoto Evasion. It cannot be recolored with the Design Tool, but can be repainted.

The Classically Cool Fixer-upper Car is a hobby object featured in The Sims 3 Store. At present, it is only available with the store world of Roaring Heights. In Buy mode, it is found in the Transportation section under Outdoors, or in the Vehicles section under Cars. When bought, it can be placed anywhere. However, once it has been restored, it must be placed on a driveway.
Working on the car builds a Sim's Handiness skill. One or two Sims can work on the car; one Sim can work on the body, while the other works on the engine. If the car is not being worked on, a Sim can rev the engine. After the car is fixed-up, it will be drivable and can be sold for §39,000. Even after the car is fully restored, a Sim can work on the engine to improve Handiness. Sims can also wax the car once it is fully restored. The car can be recolored via Create a Style.
Unlike other cars in The Sims 3, this car has a radio, and is a place where Sims can WooHoo. While in the car, Sims can also hang out, look at the stars, and make out.
