Half-pipes first appeared in The Sims: Vacation and returned in The Sims 3: Seasons.

The Sims: Vacation[]

In The Sims: Vacation, they can be found on some of the snowy lots on Vacation Island, and are available in Buy mode. How well a Sim performs on the half-pipe depends on his or her Body skill. Sims can sometimes fall while using the half-pipe but nothing bad actually happens to them. A Sim with a full fun meter will not stay on a half-pipe for long.

The Sims 3: Seasons[]

Snowboard Half-Pipe
Festival winter - half-pipe
This is the place where Sims come to experience the thrill of extreme winter sports. Snap those boots into those bindings, peer over the lip of the pipe, and plan your move. Hit it just right and you will feel like you're floating through the sky. The cheers of an adoring crowd don't hurt either! Just remember: every boarder has to eat a pound of snow before they can fly.
Game The Sims 3: Seasons
Buyability Buy mode, Community lot
Price in game §5,100 or 100 festival tickets
Selling price §4,335
Object type(s) Fun

In The Sims 3: Seasons, half-pipes will automatically appear on festival grounds during the winter, and can also be purchased separately in buy mode. Children and older can use the half-pipe, but only one Sim can use it at a time.

Buying and selling it immediately is one of the most efficient ways to do currency exchange from festival tickets to Simoleons, exchanging 100FT for §4,335 for a rate of 1FT → §43.35.
