The Sims 3: World Adventures

See also: Creating a tomb

Tomb objects are special objects introduced in The Sims 3: World Adventures. They help to define tombs, allowing players to create puzzles. Tomb objects can be accessed in buy mode using the 'buydebug' cheat. Creators can set the status of tomb objects using the Shift + Ctrl + left click command. Tombs are a core component of the adventures found in the Al Simhara, Champs Les Sims, and Shang Simla sub-neighborhoods.

Tomb objects are distinct from tomb lots and they can appear on any lot, including residential lots.

Tomb objects include:

Treasure[]

Ancient coins can be found in tombs. They are the only currency special merchants will trade his/her goods for. A Sim's total can be found in the adventure journal. There are four sizes of ancient coin stashes that can be found on the floor.

Relics are the main reason why the treasure thirsty Sims explore tombs. Relics can be collected or sold.

Fragments are bonus treasures. They are fragments of items like the Blessed King's Sarcophagus or a dive well which can only be rebuilt at home if the Sim has all the required fragments.

Piles of rubble are obstacles to treasure. A Sim can destroy the pile to uncover a dream of treasure and riches and gain Athletic skill.

Traps[]

Main article: Trap

A tomb is not complete without a challenge! Traps can be either disarmed or not disarmable, success rate determined by the Handiness skill. There are 4 types of active traps: Fire, Electricity, Darts and Steam. The fire and electricity traps are dangerous to Sims and the darts-trap causes Sims to fall asleep. The steam-trap is the least dangerous trap, as it only can soak Sims, which causes a minor mood decrease. Movable statues can disarm the traps if they're firing continuously and reveal active hidden traps as well. Traps are also disarmed when successfully crossing them, if possible. Steam traps can be utilized by Sims to bypass a fire trap, and SimBots and Mummies do not get singed by electricity traps.

Mummies[]

Depending on the circumstance, a sarcophagus may also pose to be a booby trap with a mummy inside getting awakened. Once the mummy gets out of its sarcophagus, it will be prompted to attack the exploring Sim. Mummies can either make the Sim they are fighting pass out, or worse, cast a curse upon Sims which kills the Sim if not removed within 2 weeks. Mummies have 5-10 skill points in Athletic and Martial Arts skills, making them quite strong and difficult to defeat, especially in Al Simhara , where mummies have mastered the Martial Arts skill. Mummies can be defeated with enough Athletic and Martial Arts skill or coaxed to return to their sarcophagus with Mummy Snacks. Mummies are also destroyed by fire, so luring one into a fire trap will kill it.

Switches[]

Switches are a puzzle element in tombs. Sims must activate them to reach unexplored areas of a tomb. Switches can be found in holes, dive wells and floor panels. The torches can also be levers that, when pulled on activate a switch.

Tomb holes can be found in walls or floors. Sims can inspect one to see if it has a switch in it. Tomb holes also can contain treasure or bugs that scare curious Sims.

There are two different versions of floor panel. The first has a footprint symbol and can be stepped on once to activate. The second has a gear symbol. Footprint panels will remain active once they've been stepped on, however, a gear panel requires constant pressure to remain active. Once a Sim steps off the panel the switch is deactivated, but movable statues can be used to keep them depressed.

Keystones[]

Keystone glow

A keystone is inserted into a lock.

Keystones are used to unlock doors and treasure chests by putting them in a keystone lock with the same shape as the keystone.

There are 3 different shapes of a keystone that can be found in tombs: the crescent shaped keystone, the heart shaped keystone and the star shaped keystone.

A skeleton keystone can be purchased at the Special Merchant for level 2 Visa and 400 ancient coins and can open any of the shaped keystone locks. A key shaped keystone can only be found by accepting adventures and unlocking special tombs.

Dive Wells[]

Movable Statues[]

Movable Statues are another classic adventure game element. They can be either pushed or pulled from the direction of the Sim.

They can be moved on top of traps to disarm them, or cleverly pushed through a maze to unveil a formerly blocked path. Their most common use is to be paired with a floor switch. Some floor switches are triggered when a Sim is on them, but deactivate as soon as a Sim steps off of them. This means a Sim must push a statue on top of them in order to keep the floor switch depressed. Some statues must be inspected before a Sim is able to push them.

Sarcophagi[]

Main article: Sarcophagus

Sarcophagi in Al Simhara can contain mummies, that would try to curse Sims who is stealing its belongings. Other sarcophagi can contain treasure and even be slept in. Some sarcophagi will pull the Sim who is checking the sarcophagus in and let them try the past time's simulator!

Hidden objects[]

Hidden Door

Hidden doors can be found by using interactions on random walls. They are 2x2 spaces square. If the hidden door wouldn't open, the Sim has to push the door to rotate it. High athletic skill is recommended to push the hidden doors.

Stairways from The Sims 3 can be hidden now. Hidden stairways can be revealed by activating a switch.

Giant Boulders[]

Boulders

Some boulders are too large to clear with a pick axe. They require a special artifact: Pangu's Axe, from Shang Simla to clear. Clearing these boulders can give the Sim access to previously blocked areas of a tomb and may even reveal treasure underneath.
