The Sims 3: Into the Future

The Plumbot competition arena is a rabbit hole and a lot assignment featured in The Sims 3: Into the Future.

Gameplay description[]

Sims can get a job in bot arena career, take a bot building class for §300, watch the plumbot competition for §200, and tour in the plumbot competition arena. The rabbit hole also supports investments: §35,000 for partner status, and §80,000 for owner status.

Plumbots can additionally "Offer Bot Training Services" if they have high enough skills and competition experience, and can earn simoleons for doing so; and can also attend skill classes for Athletic and Charisma (instead of just for Bot Building).

Plumbot competitions[]

PlumbotCompetition

A Sim (in Robot Mode) during an EmotiBotting Competition

The competition awards cash prizes, trophies, and the adoration of the crowd. It opens at 12:00 noon each day. Only Plumbots and Sims who are in Robot Mode can enter the competitions.

Plumbots can enter the competition even without trait chips installed to them. However, while they are in the competition, their Needs will decrease. So, it's best to enter with high quality. After a competition, there is a 3-hour cooldown until they can enter a new one.

There are 3 types of competition of a Sim or Plumbot can compete: BattleBot competition, Bot Building Competition, and EmotiBotting Competition. Plumbot competitions work effectively the same way as what horse competitions in equestrian centers do.[TS3:P]

The BattleBot competitions require Athletic skill, Bot Building competitions require Bot Building skill, and EmotiBotting Competitions require Charisma skill. And each of them have difficulties: Beginner, Advanced and International. Competing at higher levels such as Advanced or International requires the Limitless Learning trait chip (for Plumbots only), as well as having reached Skill level 3 (for Advanced) or 7 (for International) for the skill that is relevant to the competition (for Plumbots and Sims).

Virtually, there are 12 competitors, including your Sim or Plumbot, that will compete. Players can set a Pace for their Sim or Plumbot. There are 3 types of Pace:

Playing It Safe: it grants the highest success chance, smallest bonus chance, and no penalty chance.
Take Risks: it grants a medium to high success chance, medium bonus chance, and small penalty chance.
Going for Broke: it grants a moderate success chance, large success bonus, and large penalty chance. Also causes the Battery Power and Maintenance motives to sink fast.

Performance is based on factors like skill level, pace choice, luck, and whether the Plumbot has the "Tuned for Competition" moodlet from having been tuned by a Bot Arena career worker on the "Arena mechanic" branch.

Rewards[]

Getting 1st place at each of the three difficulties gives:

  • Beginner: §500 + Bronze trophy
  • Advanced: §1,200 + Silver trophy
  • International: §2,000 + Gold trophy

There are also simoleon prizes for 2nd and 3rd places.
