The SimRay is a device introduced in The Sims 4: Get to Work which can only be invented through the Invention Constructor. It requires 1x common metal, and 1x common crystal to be constructed. The SimRay can be used to manipulate and modify other Sims and objects.

The SimRay may be used by Sims not in the Science career, but only Sims working in the Science career may produce and upgrade the SimRay.

Upgrades[]

The SimRay can be upgraded through the Invention Constructor, which will unlock more interactions.

  • Freeze Ray - This is the basic interaction of the SimRay when it is invented. This interaction gives the targeted Sim a +2 "Frozen" uncomfortable moodlet as ice entraps their body, which evolves into a +1 "Chilled" uncomfortable moodlet lasting 4 hours after defrozen. It can also be used on a fire to extinguish it.
  • Transform Object - Unlocked in level 3 of the Scientist career, this interaction can change one object into another. There is a small chance that the transformation will start a fire.
  • Mind Control: Change Clothes - Unlocked at level 4 of the Scientist career, this interaction can be used on Sims to force them into changing their clothes.
  • Mind Control: Clean - Unlocked at level 5 of the Scientist career, this interaction gives the targeted Sim a +1 "Mind Controlled: Clean" happy moodlet that encourages them to clean.
  • Mind Control: Sit - Unlocked at level 6 of the Scientist career, this interaction gives the targeted Sim a +1 "Mind Controlled: Sit" happy moodlet that encourages them to sit down.
  • Mind Control: Eat - Unlocked at level 7 of the Scientist career, this interaction gives the targeted Sim a +1 "Mind Controlled: Eat" happy moodlet that encourages them to cook and/or eat.
  • Mind Control: Sleep - Unlocked at level 8 of the Scientist career, this interaction gives the targeted Sim a +1 "Mind Controlled: Sleep" happy moodlet that encourages them to sleep.
  • Mind Control: Panic - Unlocked at level 9 of the Scientist career, this interaction gives the targeted Sim a +1 "Mind Controlled: Panic" tense moodlet lasting 2 hours, and causes them to panic for a brief time. Carefree Sims are immune to this interaction, as the trait prevents the Sims from being inflicted with the tense moodlet.
  • Transform Sim - Unlocked at level 10 of the Scientist career, this interaction randomizes the targeted Sim's hair color and/or skin tone. This interaction also gives the targeted Sim a +1 "Transformed" happy moodlet lasting 2 days.
