A gardening sprinkler is an object that waters gardens automatically. It is featured in The Sims 2: Seasons, The Sims 3 and The Sims 4: Seasons. While sprinklers were not included in The Sims, some custom content creators made sprinklers for that game. The sprinkler can create puddles.

In The Sims 2: Seasons, the Garden Schpritzer line of sprinklers is found in Build mode's Gardening Center. A sprinkler can cover 90 degrees (for §90), 180 degrees (for §180), or 360 degrees (for §360). Sprinklers operate automatically, and will come on when they are needed. They will not create puddles if they cover areas not occupied by plants.
When the game is in Buy mode or Build mode, the area a sprinkler covers will be marked by a transparent green dome; if any part of the dome touches a square, plants in that square will be watered. Sprinklers will water flowers as well as Seasons garden crops, and can be placed in the same grid square as a plant. If a sprinkler is placed in the same square as a plant, it may not be possible to grab it again without moving the plant. Sprinklers will not overwater plants, but plants can still be overwatered if it rains.
Sprinklers can break and will need to be repaired. Broken sprinklers will still water plants, but will leak, and will decrease the environment score. Sprinklers are small, so a leaking sprinkler may be hard to spot, and hard to click on, especially if it is in the same square as a patch of flowers. Therefore, it may be best to call a repairman, as a repairman will always be able to find the broken sprinkler.
Players should note that active sprinklers are graphically intensive, and can cause lag. A mod by Numenor at Mod the Sims can prevent this by making the water from sprinklers invisible. Water leaking from a broken sprinkler will still be visible.

The Schuper Schprinkler from SchprinklerTech is a sprinkler in The Sims 3. It can be turned on, and it will water plants in a 5x5 area, with the sprinkler at the center. It will run indefinitely, but will not overwater the plants, as plants in The Sims 3 cannot be overwatered. Sims can upgrade it with Auto-Water so it will run between 4 AM and 7 AM, but it must be turned off so it will run automatically. Sims and dogs[TS3:P] can also play with the sprinkler autonomously.
The sprinkler covers a circa 5x5sq circular area around it.
A Schuper Schprinkler is immune from meteor impact.
It can in fact be used to put out a nearby fire relatively quickly and easily. However, it is perfectly possible for the sprinkler itself to catch fire, making it unable to be turned on (though the sprinkler won't be destroyed or in need to be replaced once the fire has been put out).
Sims who themselves are on fire cannot put themselves out with this sprinkler.

As a result of the sprinkler being possible to place on top of the base game Fairytale Fence even without Moveobjects, for unknown reasons, this allows special configurations that allow the sprinkler to work halfway consistently to extinguish fires.

Gardening sprinklers return in The Sims 4: Seasons. They have a 3x3 area of effect for plants, and Sims can also play with them to cool off during hot temperatures.
Just like in previous games, the sprinkler creates puddles when used. It can be prevented, however, by sending a Sim with a high handiness skill level to upgrade the sprinkler with "Puddle Prevention". They can also upgrade sprinklers to be unbreakable.
