Pinball machines are a buy mode object in The Sims, The Sims 2, The Sims 2 for console, The Sims Castaway Stories, The Sims 3 Store and The Sims 3 (Nintendo 3DS) which raise the fun need when used. If a Sim is playing a pinball machine, another Sim may join them.

The Sims[]

The Sims introduced a pinball machine that both children and adults could play. It can be placed on residential or community lots. If placed on a community lot, Sims will be charged to play. Up to two Sims can play at a time. Occasionally, the pinball machine will break, and must be repaired in order to use it again. The description and name of the pinball machine makes a reference to The Who rock opera "Tommy", which was centered on a pinball player.

The Sims 2[]

The Sims 2 introduced two pinball machines in the base game, one more in University, and another as a career reward in Seasons. Unlike The Sims, Sims are no longer charged when they play on community lots, and they perform more animations on these pinball machines, such as "nudging" the machine, and the ball and flippers themselves are visible.

If The Sims 2: Freetime is installed, playing with the pinball machine raises enthusiasm for the games hobby.

However, Atomic Jack Planet Attack Pinball Machine was added to The Sims 3 Store as premium content in November 2011, and other pinball machines were introduced at later dates. One or two Sims can play at a time. Excessive use or use by an unlucky Sim may cause pinball machines to break.
