An airstrip is an object in The Sims 3, where it is occasionally seen in connection to military bases, including in Sunset Valley, Twinbrook, and Roaring Heights.
The object is purely decorative, and it is unknown whether the military bases allow the airstrips to be used for civilian or chartered flights. At 209 squares long, it is the longest buy mode object in the Sims franchise by a comfortable margin (The presumed 2nd-longest being "Large Bridge" at 183 squares). Similar to the Eiffel Tower[TS3WA] and the Renault charging station,[Store] the object completely disregards obstacles and lot borders, effectively being placeable as if moveobjects had been turned on.
The Sims 3: World Adventures[]
Various icons in the game and the game file show airplanes in flight, although Sims are never shown as flying within those planes in-game.
Most notably is w_returnhome
, which shows a plane that has just lifted off (known as "rotate" in air industry vocabulary). The icon is also notable for never showing up in-game, as the icon for going to vacation shows suitcases, while going from vacation happen instantly after a phone call or when the visa time runs out.
In a less transparent image, albeit one that does show up relatively frequent in-game, the Jetsetter lifetime reward icon shows a relatively small airplane in mid-flight, albeit partially obstructed by a Simoleon sign.
The Sims 3 (mobile)[]
The World Adventures version of the Sims 3 Java phone game, is the only known game in the Sims series to have a functional civilian airport. The airport is located east of the local hospital.
The Sims 4: Incheon Arrivals Kit[]
The cover for The Sims 4: Incheon Arrivals Kit shows two Sims standing inside an airport terminal, and a departing plane in the background. However, the actual released kit contains nothing even close to an airport, instead focusing primarily on new clothing.
