The couple is a reference to famous singer-songwriter David Bowie, and fashion model Iman. The family name is also based on character created by Bowie, Ziggy Stardust.
The two Sims are said to be all about reinvention, innovation and striking visual presentational. David Ziggfield's style is referred to as a glam rock, flamboyant androgynous alter ego, which again hints to Bowie's personal style and character he created, respectively.
