Forums: IndexCommunity discussionsEliminating Forum:The Sims 4 predictions | Forum new Post

Okay so I've been thinking about this for quite some time now and I figured I may as well propose it.

Some of you may know that a while back, there was an effort to cleanup Forum:The Sims 4 predictions, which included the archival of older content and whatnot. This was a step to try and make it a bit more desirable but since then the same problems of things looking a mess, new ideas being placed anywhere, a messy layout and flame wars over certain ideas have popped back in and it's near-impossible to moderate. I don't blame anyone for this due to the structure of the page.

I personally feel that we should just eliminate or permanently lock that particular thread for several reasons:

  • Near impossible to moderate, as stated above.
  • Only attracts anonymous users, most of which make the one edit and never come back so it's not really doing anything to help us attract new users.
  • Strong target for flame bait.
  • Too tedious to even want to consider fixing.

I can see how there is relief value with this thread as it does provide somewhere for users to give their predictions but in its current state it's basically become too tedious for any real value to come out of the thread. I could perhaps support a spiritual successor of some kind but I have no ideas for this whatsoever.

Omg, I don't like that forum at all. It isn't useful and is just filled with nonsense sometimes. I support either locking it, or completely deleting it. Caviawheek here 13:05, February 17, 2013 (UTC)

Sometimes it could bypass the abuse filter and profanity would end up there, or contents that are equally ominous. Their comments are really nonsensical, useless, and pointless. I'd support deleting it. Nikel Talk Vote! 18:11, February 18, 2013 (UTC)
I think that if the wiki does decide to delete it, we should leave maybe a week or two to let people get their ideas and copy them somewhere or something. Or maybe not, because most of the ideas are from anons... Anyways, I support a delete. ~ Waikikamukow (Anyone wanna chat?) 20:13, February 21, 2013 (UTC)
I agree with everything said. The forum is totally messed up and half of the ideas don't make any sense. I would totally support a delete, or even locking it would be good. HanaGoth98 talk    22:31, February 23, 2013 (UTC)

Phase Two[]

Okay so this has been up for a week and I can't see anything else coming out of this so let's move on. The consensus above appears to favor deletion. To allow for those who wish to save their predictions to do so, I'm going to protect the page for 1 week before deleting to accommodate that. Check back in this thread for any updates. Closed - The thread and its archives have been deleted. If you wish to propose re-introducing this feature to the wiki then please bring it up in a new topic. Lost Labyrinth Flag united kingdom england (c)(b) 14:30, March 3, 2013 (UTC)
