Forums: IndexHelp deskSlow/laggy game.. | Forum new Post

So recently, my Sims 3 game has been quite laggy. It's gotten to the point where I'm so annoyed by it that I can't play. All my other computer games (Rollercoaster Tycoon 3, Sims Life Stories, etc) are working fine and don't lag, so I'm really confused. I don't have any custom content for my game that isn't from the store, but I don't even have much of that. I have a Dell Laptop and 195 GB of free space, so I don't know why it's been laggy lately.. someone please help, I feel horrible for not playing the games because my mom spent a lot of money on them :( Morgsalexandra (talk) 15:40, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

How long have you owned the game? And more importantly did it have any lagging problems before? Lost Labyrinth Flag united kingdom england (c)(b) 15:45, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

I've had it since TS3 base game came out, and no, I don't think it's been this laggy before on this computer. I don't think it's ever been in tip-top perfect shape though, but it's never been this slow. Morgsalexandra (talk) 15:48, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

  • I have the same problem!Did you try to use the game booster?SimCassandra (talk here)16:16, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

what exactly is the game booster? I've never heard of it.. Morgsalexandra (talk) 16:18, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

(edit conflict x2) Installing expansion packs can add a lot more strain to your PC's hardware if you have any of them installed. If you know them, would you mind telling me your processor, processor speed, graphics card and amount of RAM? This sounds like an issue with the hardware itself but I could be wrong. Lost Labyrinth Flag united kingdom england (c)(b) 16:19, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

I actually do have all the EP's installed. No stuff packs, though. And my processor is Intel Core i3 CPU, and my RAM is 4.00 GB (3.80 GB usable). Not sure about processor speed, nor graphics card.Morgsalexandra (talk) 16:26, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

Going by that alone, your hardware should be fine with the games, though I've heard that Supernatural is a resource hog and can be problematic with PCs with only 4GB of RAM, though I'm not sure if they patched that or not. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Lost Labyrinth Flag united kingdom england (c)(b) 16:36, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

It's okay! Hopefully when they come out with Seasons they'll have another game update and maybe that'll help. Thank you! Morgsalexandra (talk) 16:41, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

Is it possible that this might be a matter of wrongly-set graphic settings? What are your graphics set to, and what were they set to before this problem began? -- LiR speak ~ read 23:54, November 4, 2012 (UTC)

Most of them are either medium or low. I just reinstalled my games and so they are all at their original settings, I believe. Morgsalexandra (talk) 00:46, November 6, 2012 (UTC)

Also I've found the age of my town slows down the game. Around week 20, my town starts to jump minutes, how long have your sims lived in the same town (in weeks)?

Not long at all. As I believe I said, I just reinstalled my games so my sims have only been in the town for less than a day, haha. Morgsalexandra (talk) 18:20, November 6, 2012 (UTC)
