Gaylord Koffi is Gobias Koffi's father. He is buried in Pleasant Rest Graveyard, Sunset Valley, and sometimes appears as a ghost in the cemetery.
Gobias Koffi is a clear reference to Arrested Development's Tobias Funke, a character who is often implied to be gay. Gaylord's first name may be a pun on the term "gay" — slang for "homosexual," thereby implying that his son is gay. However, "Gaylord" is an actual, if uncommon, given name.[1] It may have been intended to sound somewhat "old-fashioned." It is possible that his name doesn't imply he's gay, but implies he's the father of a gay son. Lord implies an authority, for example, he's the authority of someone who's gay. He could also be named after the character Gaylord Focker from the movies Meet The Parents, Meet The Fockers and Little Fockers.
Gobias Koffi's mother does not appear in the family tree, and they don't share any physical features, so it is possible that Gaylord adopted him. Gaylord dresses like a cowboy.Gaylord has a thin body shape, likely caused by his death from starvation. His original body shape is unknown.
Like other ghosts in Sunset Valley, when resurrected his hat will not carry over into his other outfits by default. Like some other ghosts, this will cause a glitch where part of his hair appears colorless. This can be fixed by reselecting his current hairstyle at a stylist, in Create-A-Sim using testingcheats, or with NRaas Industries Master Controller.
Trivia[]
- Strangely, he has the can't stand art but also has the artistic and easily impressed traits, even though the latter two conflict with the former. Gaylord's personality would normally be impossible for a player to create.
- Appaloosa Plains, is home to The Koffi Café, which may be a reference to Gaylord.
- He could possibly be based on Randy Jones, a member of the 1970s Disco band The Village People, who would often wear a cowboy outfit.
- By exploiting a bug in NRaas Traveler, it can be seen that Gaylord Koffi was the sole member of the Koffi household (Not to be confused with Gobias Koffi's identically named household) in the game's internal coding before his death. The bug makes him alive, but he cannot be chosen as the active household without softlocking if Supernatural is installed, due to the game and/or mod trying to make a supernatural hangout his home.

- ↑ Wiktionary says that it has "rarely been given after the 1960s because of the modern meaning of gay." It was used in the movie Meet the Fockers (2004) for comedic effect.
