|Game||The Sims 2 (PSP)|
Isaac Rossum is a character in the The Sims 2 for PSP. His first name is likely taken from Isaac Asimov, a prolific American science fiction author particularly known for his stories involving his Three Laws of Robotics, and his surname is most likely inspired by the Czech play R.U.R., or Rossum's Universal Robots, which coined the word 'robot'. Once you've entered his home, he will tell you about how his wife, Roberta Rossum, has been "malfunctioning" lately, which is a bizarre term to use for a seemingly human person.
He asks the player to become soulmates (friendship 4) with his wife Roberta, since she gets so lonely sometimes. After finding out that he built Roberta to be his wife and completing tasks for her and Doctor Dominic Newlow, the player is commanded to help kidnap Roberta. Isaac becomes devastated and asks the player to go to Deadtree and track down the body parts of his wife with a tracking device. After finding all the parts but the head, Issac helps the player throughout a few more missions of the game in order to stop Doctor Dominic Newlow and get his wife's head back from him.
Issac's secrets from The Sims 2 (PSP):
- (Personal): Isaac's first invention was an automated rescue helicopter. But he bungled it.
- (Intimate): Isaac used to work as a city planner years ago. His cities always had heavy traffic.
- (Dark): Isaac is now developing a single-celled organism that will evolve in mere minutes.
- (Robotic Wife): Roberta is actually a ROBOT that Isaac built in his workroom using bits of old toasters!
Isaac is probably intended to be Will Wright, the series' creator. His appearance resembles Wright's, and his secrets are all references to Maxis games (SimCopter, SimCity, and Spore) that Wright designed. This seems like a plausible deduction, considering his defensive dialogue in the game's ending when talked to about Newlow's claims.
Isaac is a name of Hebrew origin, meaning "he will laugh".
Rossum is a surname of German and Dutch origin.
