Some games in The Sims series have alternate names, depending on the location of their release. Additionally, some games have slight variations in the title, such as the inclusion or absence of a colon (:) after the game's name (e.g. The Sims: House Party, vs The Sims House Party). For sake of consistency, The Sims Wiki utilizes a colon in all expansion and stuff pack titles, even if one is not present in the official name.

  • Official name: The name used in-game, the website or manual in the North American version of the game.
  • Alternate name: The game's other official name, usually used in Europe, the UK and Commonwealth countries, and elsewhere.
  • Variations: Names similar to the official name, except for minor changes (e.g. the inclusion/exclusion of a colon).
  • Short names: The game's shortened or abbreviated name(s)

TriviaEdit

  • Games are sometimes spelled with a colon such as The Sims 3: Generations rather than The Sims 3 Generations or The Sims 3: Town Life Stuff rather than The Sims 3 Town Life Stuff.
    • The Sims Wiki also spells the EP and SP names with a colon (Such as The Sims 3: Generations instead of The Sims 3 Generations). EA does this as well as well as The Sims 2.[6]

Other alternate name examplesEdit

  • The Sims 3 for PS3, Xbox 360, DS and Wii are referred as The Sims 3 for Console on EA's website although their name is The Sims 3. EA might have used this name so users would not be confused with The Sims 3 (Windows and Mac OS X).
    • However, this is not used on the 3DS version where it is referred as The Sims 3 for 3DS instead or The Sims 3 Pets.
  • EA and users may sometimes use colons.
    • The Sims 2 University is referred as The Sims 2: University when the icon of that game is moused over.
    • The Game Explorer on Windows Vista and Windows 7 refers The Sims Deluxe Edition and The Sims Life Stories as The Sims: Deluxe Edition and The Sims: Life Stories, respectively.
    • EA spells all EPs and SPs with a colon on EA Support pages such as The Sims 3: Generations and The Sims 3: Town Life.
      • However, EA's website and Origin do not use colons on The Sims 3 EPs and SPs.
  • On the DS, The Urbz: Sims in the City is referred as The Urbz Sims in the City. This does not occur on the Gamecube as it is spelled as The Urbz: Sims in the City.

NotesEdit

  1. The Sims is sometimes called The Sims 1 but the name is The Sims. However, The Sims 2 and The Sims Stories refer The Sims as The Sims 1 (Shopping section reads The Sims Buy Mode music as Sims1buymode[TS2:OFB] and there is a camera setting saying Sims 1 Style.
  2. The DS version of the game is titled The Urbz: Sims in the City so The Urbz DS would not be an official name. However, The Urbz DS is used to refer to the DS version of The Urbz
  3. The Sims 2 Castaway Stories should not be confused with The Sims 2 Castaway.
  4. The Sims Castaway should not be confused with The Sims Castaway Stories
  5. The console versions are all named "The Sims 3"; Wii and DS are also known as The Sims 3 for Console. This should not be confused with the Windows and Mac OS X game.
  6. The Sims 2 University is referred as The Sims 2: University when it is not installed when the player hovers overs the University icon.
