Marigold Maldano is a pre-made Fairy residing in Moonlight Falls. Her lifetime wish is to have the Perfect Garden despite the fact that she doesn't have the Green Thumb or Loves the Outdoors Traits. The same situation occurred with Cornelia Goth of Sunset Valley. Marigold starts off with 5 skill points in cooking and works as a pastry chef in the culinary career. She carries two books in her inventory.
According to her family biography, Marigold only recently realized that she’s descended from a family of powerful fairies. She was raised by her late grandmother and recently inherited the family home. Her only other known relative, Uncle Terry, recently died in a freak bug-zapper accident. It is possible that this uncle is Terry Moldano of Starlight Shores even though their last names are spelled differently and he died from an accident with the Box of Danger.
Marigold is best friends forever with Helen Hall, best friends with Haley Sumari, good friends with David Pok and Deedee Wynn, and friends with Alice Fitzgerald. She is also distant friends with Malcolm Harris and ex-girlfriend to Gladsten Farmwell, with whom she has very little relationship.
- The name Marigold comes from the flower of the same name.
- Both Marigold's deceased grandmother and uncle do not have visible gravestones or urns. Also, bug-zappers do not exist in The Sims 3, so Uncle Terry's death, despite being able to die from electrocution, is impossible in the universe. The bug-zapper death was probably caused by Terry flying into said zapper, while in shrunken fairy form.
- Technically, due to her Cooking skill level, Marigold should not be able to make Grilled Salmon. This could be why, based on the description, it burned when she tried to make it for Gladsten. Although, the option for her to make such a recipe, at this point, would not come up in normal gameplay.
- Marigold Maldano appears to be a parody of Sookie Stackhouse, the main character from the book and television series True Blood, as both are descended from fairies and have a deceased grandmother. Also, the Marigold-Gladsten-Helen love triangle could be a reference to the Sookie-Sam-Tara love triangle in Season 1 of True Blood. Sookie also briefly uses "Marigold" as an alias in one of the books. Susie Sackholme of Dragon Valley is another parody of Sookie that appears in the game.
