[edit] Life leading up to The Sims 1
Mortimer Goth was born outside of SimCity in the Old Country, which could refer to a place such as England or an unknown rural area. His father, Gunther, moved the family to SimCity when Mortimer was young. By the time we get to the original Sims, Mortimer lives with his wife Bella and his daughter Cassandra in a house that seems to change in Sims 2 many believe that the old house burned down supported in Mortimers memories that say there was a fire and then they moved into a new house. He is also in the science career track (which he will later excel in). His parents live in a large estate on Maple street nearby. Strangely enough in the original Sims his star sign is actually Taurus, which later changes to a Cancer in the Sims 2.
[edit] Life leading up to the Sims 2
Between the two sims games, a lot happens in Mortimer's life. He rises through the ranks of the science career to become an esteemed mad scientist, accumulating a lot of wealth along the way. (which later attracts the attention of the Caliente sisters.) Mortimer's parents; Gunther and Cornelia both die, and eventually Mortimer and Bella have a son, Alexander. As of The Sims 2 he is retired and his daughter, Cassandra (who is an adult by this time), is following in her father's footsteps in the science career. Cassandra is engaged to the town casanova Don Lothario, with plans to settle down.
Perhaps the most significant event is the mysterious disappearance of Mortimer's wife Bella. All evidence points to alien abduction, but it's interesting to note she was last seen "scaling the deck" of Don Lothario's condo. Bella's disappearance was well publicized, with "missing" notices appearing on milk cartons and in papers. This publicity has lead to many theories and rumors, and even supposed sightings in Strangetown. As of The Sims 2, she remains missing. Since Bella is gone, and she and Mortimer are presumably not married anymore, Mortimer has a crush on Dina Caliente, unaware she is only dating him to get access to his millions.

[edit] Homes
In the Sims 1, Mortimer lives with his wife Bella and his daughter Cassandra in a small house on Sim Lane (despite his parents' massive mansion on Maple Street). It only has 5 rooms on two floors: a lounge, a kitchen and two bedrooms as well as a small bathroom. The garden, although much larger, is plain except for the large graveyard, which characterizes the Goths' often seemingly morbid appearance. At night ghosts often haunt the lot.
By the Sims 2, Mortimer's wealth led to a much larger estate, with 3 floors as well as a roof terrace. There is a kitchen, a study, an entrance hall and a dining room, three bedrooms, three bathrooms and a landing as well as a bare attic room. The garden is very interesting. The front path is flanked by two large trees. The whole house is on a raised deck, with a flight of steps to reach the front door. If a user closely examines the floor plans, one can tell that the Sims 1 house has the same floor plan (except with more floors and a foundation), suggesting that this is perhaps the same house with many additions added on. Behind the house is a wedding arch, along with chairs and tables(suggesting an imminent wedding) perhaps intended for Don and Cassandra. Also featured is a graveyard with six dead relatives.
[edit] Mortimer Goth in the world
Mortimer Goth is perhaps one of the most well known Sims in the world. Many stories have been made about him and his family and he appears in other games such as The Sims: Bustin' Out, the TV family on the Sims 2 for GameBoy Advance and SimGolf.
[edit] Inspiration
Mortimer Goth's appearance is likely to be based on that of Vincent Price, a famous American horror actor.
[edit] Player stories
- In mine one Bella came back from using the boolprop cheat. Dina got killed by flies though she did have an child with mortimer when they were married.
- On mine Mortimer resurected Bella and got married they had 4 more kids Cassandra II, Morty Jr, Alex II, and Kanie.
- In my game Mortimer got abducted by aliens, like Bella, but came back pregnant and the child's name was Pioneer 1856376 (Josh Goth). Josh had 2 children with Lisa Ramirez. The children's names were Josh "JJ" Goth Jr and Precious Stoning Goth.
- In my game I used the tombstone of Life and Death to bring Bella back to the household. She and Mortimer were married, and Dina Caliente was left alone. Yippee! Then, Bella became pregnant and learned parenting. She had a baby girl named Stacey Goth. But when I came back later, Bella had turned into a ghost, and she left the household. Not yippee. I hear SimPE works, but I haven't tried using it yet because I don't know what it does to your computer data.
- In my game I decided to let fate run its course and married Dina to Mortimer, tried for a baby until Dina became pregnant with a girl (Dana Caliente), then allowed him, by means of equipping him with the Thinking Cap and forcing him to play piano and read mechanical books to fulfill his Knowledge wants, to die with platinum (but not lifetime) aspiration. Dina then used the 20,000 simoleon inheritance to buy the Corner Shop in Bluewater Village. I haven't yet got around to starting the business though.
- I too, used the headstone of L&D to bring Bella back and remarry Mortimer. It's okay, because although she doesn't recognize Mortimer as her husband, she knows that her children are her children. The only thing is, after they married, she had a baby, so I saved. When I came back Bella turned into a ghost. The INTERESTING thing is, when she turns into a ghost, it says, "Bella has died on another lot. She will return there to haunt,"...does this mean she was killed??? Because I thought she died on the Goth lot, but her ghost wasn't on the lot at all. And when Mortimer died, the hula zombie that came to take him with the Grim Reaper looked a lot like Bella Goth. After Mortimer died, I just resurrected Bella with something I downloaded, I don't remember what, possibly SimPE..so she could take care of her baby she'd had with Mortimer, whose name is Polly, so Cassandra didn't have to raise two children at the same time, (Polly, her and the late Don Lothario's baby she had..yes I killed him. But really, who doesn't want to?) And Alexander, who'd just turned into a teenager. When I resurrected Bella, though, she knew once again who her children were, and that Michael Bachelor (ressurected, and married to Dina, and now they have a baby girl named Nighat, after her mother) was her brother, so I'd have to assume she IS the real Bella, just with her Mortimer memories (as well as previous to her first L&D ressurection memories) erased. However, she still knew her family the first and second time I brought her back.
- What I did was, follow the instructions (letting Cassandra marry Don and letting Dina marry Mortimer), but then twisted the rules. I had Dina get pregnant(still is) and now I'm planning on getting Mortimer and Dina into an argument over Bella, thus making Mortimer kick her out. But he'll still be stuck with the kid... Well I'll have him die, the son can inherit his money and Dina can go live with her sister Nina in the house could hardly afford, since she had to move because the game said there were too many people in their house, and she moved out with $20,000.
- The future looked set for Mortimer to marry Dina but at Cassandra and Don's wedding reception he ended up getting closer to Dina's sister Nina. Shortly after Mortimer and Nina married and they had a daughter called Amy Goth.
- I made Mortimer marry Nina Caliente and have twins, a boy and a girl. Mortimer died of old age when they became teenagers.
- In my game, I broke up Dina and Mortimer. Then I boolpropped Alexander into an adult and Dina married him. Dina called Brandi Broke and I made Mortimer love her so now the Brokes live in the Goth house.(I moved out Cassandra!) I want Brandi to be pregnant but so far no luck.(Yes, Brandi had her third child!)
- On mine, I had Mortimer propose to Dina and soon after the proposal but before the wedding, Dina was killed when a fire started in the kitchen and Mortimer went into a depression which resulted in him dying of fright when he saw Dina's ghost and left Cassandra and Alexander with his money and the house.
- In my game, when Don Lothario left Cassandra at the altar, I made Mortimer Goth propose Dina and Nina move in. Then Mortimer proposed to Dina in Woodland Park. Then they had 5 children Ashlynn, Bradford, Charity, and Chandler (Twin Girls), and Daughtery. Nina dumped Don, and I made Darren and her get together.
- In my game, Mortimer is a grandpa of five. He never remarried. Cassandra married Darren Dreamer and had two daughters and Alexander married a Sim I created, Layla, and had three sons.
- In my game Mortimer married Dina, and they had FIVE kids together. Dona(teen), Bella(kid), Hannah and Savannah(twin kids), and Lynn(toddler). Mortimer has always suspected that Dina was having a affair with Don, but didn't look into it fearing he would lose his kids. Though the truth is that Bella and Lynn are Don's kids.
- Mortimer has two kids with Dina in my sims 2, the first one is a child girl named Areliya and the second is still in Dina's belly. His daughter Cassandra just got married to Don and is having a baby. Mortimer doesn't know that he has two more kids because Dina hasn't told him.
- Mine's a long story. I need to start with a family I made: The Case Family. In the beginning, The Case Family consisted of two people, Gabe Case and I can't remember the Girl's name (I haven't played with that family in months). The Case family was adventurous. They befriended and "adopted" Bigfoot and built a robot. They then had a son, Kameron, and twins, can't remember their names either. They were all killed, minus Kameron and the mom, in what I called the "Case Family Massacre" where they were all struck by lightning, again minus Kameron and the mom. The mom disappeared in all the chaos. Ok, here's where Mortimer came in. Cassandra realized Don was an arse and dumped him and moved out. Alexander grew lonely. Mortimer decided to adopt a child. He adopted Kameron. Kam distanced himself from Mortimer, being not only a weird old man but not his father. Eventually, though, he reached out to Alexander, figuring he's his best bet on a companion. They became best friends. When Kam became a teenager his aspiration was knowledge. He began having nitemares of his families death and became obsessed with their resurrection. He began to occupy the attic in the Goth home to build his project. He finally built a device that enables him to call the Grim Reaper and, for a hefty price, resurrect his family. He did so. He resurrected almost all of his family. He asked the Grim Reaper about his mother and the Grim Reaper told him she was still alive. Mortimer then approached Kameron and his family and told him he was giving them half of his fortune (approximately 300,000 simoleons). The Case Family bought a new home and they lived happily ever after. Well, except for their mother, they never found her.
P.S. In case anyone hasn't figured it out yet, I may have cheated to make this possible.
- Mortimer moved in with Dina and he got her pregnant. He died of old age a couple days before the baby was born. The baby is now a toddler and a girl named Tina (I made it ryme with her aunt and mother). She lookes a lot like Dina.
