Nectar

"L'Amour des Fruits", the nectar machine from World Adventures

Nectar is the equivalent of wine in The Sims: Makin' Magic. It has been reported that it will also fill that role in The Sims 3 World Adventures. However, due to the ratings of the Sims games, nectar is non-alcoholic.

[edit] The Sims: Makin' Magic

In Makin' Magic, nectar is made in the A Pressing Feeling nectar press. Sims can sell it, or place it in inventory. From there, it can be given as a gift or placed in the Taste of the Vine Nectar Bar for later use. When selling nectar, the price depends on the Sim's Cooking skill. For a Sim with maxed Cooking, nectar making can be quite profitable.

While nectar is treated as non-alcoholic with regard to Sims, enchanted garden gnomes who swim in the nectar press will get slightly tipsy. Further, it cannot be consumed by children, in keeping with legal restriction on alcohol in many real countries.

[edit] The Sims 3 World Adventures

Nectar can be found in Champs Les Sims. Depending on how good the nectar is, a Sim that drinks it will be afflicted with good or bad effects: A good nectar makes a Sim happier and bestows the "Good Meal" Moodlet. A bad one will make a Sim grumpy (like drinking sour lemonade). Since it's made of grapes, nectar-making and Gardening will be related to the Cooking skill, as better quality grapes will mean better nectars. For extra simoleons in the family fund, bottles of nectar can, like actual bottles of wine, be aged in a special rack. It's unknown which other benefits are achieved through aging. Due to cultural references in-game, it will be likely to see NPCs drinking this in Champs Les Sims. Reportedly, the nectar is made like the wine in the old times: with the feet!
