The only thing PT9 loves more than his lawn is his family. When he is not spending time with his children, he enjoys clipping coupons and staring up at the sky.
Pollination Tech#9 Smith (also known as Mister Smith or Pollination Technician 9 Smith) is an alien character in both The Sims 2 and The Sims 2 for PSP.
Though technically a strange extraterrestrial, Pollination Technician 9 is the patriarch of Strangetown, and father of four of its citizens. Although he seems to have had a very strange occupation in his adulthood, Pollination Technician 9 always wanted to just have a regular family.
Retiring after his ascent into elder-hood, he adopted the last name "Smith" and started a new family in the heart of Strangetown, becoming a well-known community leader who is respected and admired by most of his neighbors, excluding his resentful neighbor - and enemy - General Buzz Grunt, with whom he is feuding.
He is married to Jenny Smith and is the father to Johnny Smith and Jill Smith through Jenny. He had an important part taking care of his and Jenny's children. He taught all toddler skills to Johnny and two toddler skills to Jill, while Jenny only taught her how to walk. This is probably because he is a huge family Sim. He is also the father to the twins Lola Singles and Chloe Singles through the alien abduction of Glarn Curious. Note that, although the family description states that the Sim planet is his favorite, he has only carried out a single pollination there, according to his family tree.
He seems to be one of the very few aliens to have hair, most have the same gaunt face and features, only bald.
Unlike most aliens, who have black hair genetics, he has red hair genetics; his daughter, Chloe, has red hair and her human father, Glarn, has black hair (shown in pictures and in Lazlo, Pascal, and Lola's hair). If he has more children with Jenny while she's still an adult, there's a 50% chance of red hair.
There is a poster from The Sims 2: University called Surfing the Universe depicting an alien named RT#67 who is Pollination Technician #9's cousin, according to the description. Despite this, the family tree does not show RT#67.
Pollination Technician 9 is even older and lives with his wife and daughter. The player has to free his son Johnny in a mini game. After a worried Jenny sends the player to discover what Pollination Technician 9 has been doing outside during the night, finding him by the wreckage of a flying saucer Pollination Technician 9 reveals to the player that he was married with a family back on his home planet. He instructs the player to retrieve a photo album of his alien family. He wears an outfit similar to a Pollination Technician in one mini-game. He lives in Division 47. His facial structure is different from the PC version. In the game he speaks slowly and with no facility, possibly because he is just learning to speak Simlish.
Pollination Tech 9 is a reference to his previous occupation, as he comes from a long line of alien pollination technicians.
Smith is a common surname originating in England. Since Pollination Technicians don't have last names, it is presumed Pollination Tech 9 used the name "Smith" to make his extraordinary family sound normal.
