The Sims 3: Into the Future

The Stellar observatory is a rabbit hole featured in The Sims 3: Into the Future.

Gameplay description[]

Sims can get a job in the astronomer career, take a space training class for §500, watch the planetarium show for §30, and tour in the stellar observatory. It is possible to WooHoo inside.

The stellar observatory in Oasis Landing is located next to the bistro and in front of the library and the city hall. Here, Sims can experiment with Zero-G. It can increase a Sim's Advanced Technology skill at a 25% faster rate.

Sims who have at least level 1 in logic skill or Sims who are in the astrophysicist branch of the astronomer career can also search for stellar activity.

Activities[]

The astronomer career has two branches. These are the astrophysicist branch and space explorer branch. The astrophysicist requires at least level 2 of both Advanced Technology and Logic skills. While the space explorer branch requires at least level 2 of both Advanced Technology and Athletic skills.

In the Dystopian Future of Oasis Landing, the stellar observatory can be used to raise the defensive grid, which temporarily prevents meteor strikes and related lightning strikes,[n 1] and which requires 3 metals and 3 gems.[n 2]

Astrophysicist Branch[]

Sims who work in the astrophysicist branch can discover unique celestial bodies while searching for stellar activity. During this interaction, Sims can find valuable posters/paintings of space and planets and some valuable objects. Searching for stellar activity has five potential discoveries: the Gamma Ray Burst, the Super Nova, the Event Horizon, the Life on Another Planet, and The End of Discovery.

Space Explorer Branch[]

Sims who work in space explorer branch have the ability to search for stellar activity at the stellar observatory. And when they reach level 10, they will have an ability to travel to Simulon V. With this, Sims can teleport to another planet in attempt to extract Star Dust or Dark Matter. This is available once every 4 hours. Sometimes, this ability can help Sims find valuable objects during this interaction.

Trivia[]

  • If a Sim search for stellar observatory, a light directs to the sky appears, meaning they are searching the galaxy.

Notes[]

  1. NRaas Industries mods, primarily NRaas Overwatch, has been known to set flags that turn the Defense Grid permanently on for that savefile.
  2. Gem dust[TS3:SN] is also counted as one gem for this opportunity.
