Welcome to my talk page!

Please use the Leave Message button to write a message on my page. Please be sure to sign your message (by typing out ~~~~) so I know who contacted me. I may also be online on the IRC Channel if you need an immediate response. If you need a quick response and I am not online, please contact an available administrator or bureaucrat for assistance.

Read me!

Please do not leave me messages asking if you are allowed to do something or have my permission. You do not need an administrator's permission to do things on the wiki. Let me repeat that - you DO NOT NEED PERMISSION. If, on the other hand, you'd like me to perform an action that only an administrator can perform (deleting a page, blocking a user, etc), feel free to leave a message requesting that. Thanks!

RE: Featured article and poll Edit

Sorry to be a flake, but it just so happens that I will be unavailable this March as well - around March 10 to 14 (see here). I'll see if another admin is willing to take on the task while I'm gone. K6ka (talk | contribs) 02:51, March 5, 2014 (UTC)

No! This is not me! I'll do this! K6ka (talk | contribs) 03:20, March 5, 2014 (UTC)
Phew! Well, that was time I could've used to study for my science test spent unwisely (shame on me and my academic studies), but I at least got the Featured Article and Polls updated for this month. Feel free to chastise me if I screwed up anywhere in between. K6ka (talk | contribs) 04:04, March 5, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Italicizing game namesEdit

Ok, I'll just go and revert those edits. Joey.eyeball (talk) 08:05, March 6, 2014 (UTC)

Next BattleEdit

This is a comment I recently posted on Lab's page and then I noticed that you were currently online so I posted it on your page, in case you might be able to start the next battle.

The next battle is just overdue to start. I didn't know where else to turn and I've been trying to add a couple of messages to talk pages, hoping to alert others but without luck. So I'm down to my last solution - contact an administrator. C.Syde65 (talk) 02:17, March 14, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Featured article nominationEdit

I deleted the nomination because I thought a user could only make one nomination for some odd reason. I'm not really thinking straight today. I might put it back up.  StartUp talk 06:13, March 18, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Nomination for rollback Edit

Pardon my ignorance, but what is a rollback exactly? Icemandeaf (talk) 01:01, April 29, 2014 (UTC)

Sims Infobox and Career(s) Edit

I have been diving into the {{Sim2}} and {{Sim}} templates to see what is possible for Sims who are retired and have a part-time job. I got excited when I saw that there was a career and career2 parameter in the {{Sim}} template, but it seems that career is for {{Sim2}}'s career parameter and career2 is for the {{Sim3}}'s career parameter. So is there a way to list in a Sim's infobox that they are retired and have a part-time job? Icemandeaf (talk) 22:21, May 19, 2014 (UTC)

65.129.158.170 and 65.78.158.183 Edit

I've already left this message on Mathetesalexandrou's page, but since you're active, I thought I'd leave this message here as well.

I was wondering if 65.129.158.170 could be a sockpuppet of 65.78.158.183 by any chance. They both start with "65" and they both have negative editing history which leads me to question if they could be from the same location and if they could be the same user. C.Syde (talk | contribs) 03:43, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

Re: Nomination for rollbackEdit

Thank you for making me a rollback! I'll try my best to become a responsible rollback. :) ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) 05:35, May 23, 2014 (UTC)

RE: I'll just leave these here Edit

Thanks for the links. I stole some code from a warning template on Wikipedia and used that for the talk page links. I changed the wording a bit too... will edit the MediaWiki welcome templates soon to reflect those wording changes. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 02:55, May 29, 2014 (UTC)

RE:Unused filesEdit

Oh sorry, I didn't realize. I was gathering them up for a project and uploading them to this wiki as I was going to copy and paste them on my iPhone and upload them to somewhere else - an app on my phone. How do I delete them? --{{SUBST:User:Lizard13/Sig}} 15:51, June 8, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Spam filter Edit

Yep. I added that line just so I don't get PWN3D by the abuse filter again, like I did here. If this wiki had a Village Stocks, I'd probably be in it. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 00:26, June 9, 2014 (UTC)

Oh, and aren't administrator rights bundled with the bureaucrat package (so technically the sysop flag isn't required)? --k6ka (talk | contribs) 00:27, June 9, 2014 (UTC)
Hmm, now that is interesting information. The good thing about MediaWiki wikis is that it's easy to test and reverse the damage quickly. Though not without leaving a permanent scar in the server's records...
Do we update the The Sims Wiki:Administrators page? It currently says that "Bureaucrats are the same as regular administrators, except they have the ability to add and remove user rights for other users. Bureaucrats can only have their bureaucrat flag removed by themselves or Wikia Staff, and can remove the user flags of any other user (aside from bureaucrats or Wikia Staff). Bureaucrats technically do not need to have sysop flags, though in practice they almost always have sysop flags anyways." Which, we now know, is technically incorrect. --k6ka (talk | contribs) 00:50, June 9, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Can we talk? Edit

I suppose. C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:05, June 13, 2014 (UTC)

Well actually I got this user mixed up with that user. The latter was the user I was actually talking about. But obviously neither of them are acting in bad faith. C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:38, June 13, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Bot accountEdit

Oh, I don't know how to operate a bot. Sometimes I consider having a bot of my own, but I just don't know how. Do you need to be registered to use AWB?

I used to ask Wogan and his bot to do tedious job like this. I should've asked you for help but I forgot that you had a bot at that time. TBH, there are still some more pages that need to be recategorized, so probably you could help me out? Nikel Talk Vote! 12:46, June 15, 2014 (UTC)

Nomination for administrator Edit

Thank you for the nomination. I had to really think about this, but I have finally decided to accept. Icemandeaf (talk) 05:08, June 19, 2014 (UTC)

RE: A notice Edit

Okay then. I just thought it was worth a try. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 04:55, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

That's alright. Normally I would just go 'you deserved what you got' and I wouldn't stop to give them advice. But with that particular user, she seems to be a little different from an outright vandal / sockpuppet.

Of course she's still violating the regulations on this wiki so I wouldn't directly show strong support on her getting unblocked. The thing is it's hard to know when a user deserves to be unblocked or not.

I'm not trying to say that I should get involved in any further matters regarding ILoveSims5 or her sockpuppets, but I would say that as a non-administrator, I should at least know what to do in a situation in a community discussion without directly handling situations or undermining administrative actions. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:19, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Alright then. I suppose getting involved in the Forum:Unblock system page may be enough. But some people can never be sure when leaving messages on those blocked user talk pages might be going too far. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:28, June 20, 2014 (UTC)

Contradiction Edit

According to this page here, the consensus for changing requirements for rollback was favourable, and yet this page clearly states that one has to be a rollback before they can be an administrator.

If what I've read is correct, then those two pages contradict one another, or one of them hasn't been updated. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 09:05, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Okay! :) -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 21:01, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Something to deleteEdit

Hello, LiR. Can you delete the Category:University Life (The Sims 3)? It was supposed to be in here but I didn't pay attention to its name. >_> ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 21:23, June 21, 2014 (UTC)

Icemandeaf - Admin Edit

I just wondered if you noticed that Icemandeaf's name hasn't been highlighted in light green when his edits appear on the recent wiki activity. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 07:00, June 24, 2014 (UTC)

Ah yes, I might have thought my server was a few minutes behind. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 07:04, June 24, 2014 (UTC)

Not supporting my nomination Edit

  • While my heart is certainly in the right place, and I have almost definitely learned everything I need to be an administrator, I actually think it's fortunate that you haven't supported my nomination for the following reasons.
  • While most people normally take time over their edits, I am always in a rush because I feel that I have a mountain of things to do and I just want to get them all done. As a result I often forget to add several bits of information, so then I have to go back and type in the information that slips out of my mind - by which time other editors may already have noticed.
  • I often tend to do what many consider to be "A rough job which needs to be polished". I remember making an edit on a page, and another editor came along and tried to improve the grammar of my edit - but in doing so they re-wrote the opposite to what I had intended.
  • I have made many mistakes, most of which I am unlikely to repeat - but then there's always a new generation of mistakes, in addition to those mistakes that had no one else pointed them out to me, I would never have noticed.
  • Also when others try to explain things to me, I'm in too much of a hurry to actually take the time to consider and understand what they've said. This explains why I often misinterpret advice - such as "taking a step back and think a little bit deeper about what you're doing". Instead I might think of it as "wasting my time thinking about this when I could be jumping ahead to something else".
  • Naturally I'm often under the impression that nothing is wrong which is why I express my confidence and experience whilst failing to notice any advice "I am strongly advising you to stop getting involved in any further matters regarding ILoveSims5 or her sockpuppets". Instead I might see it as "stop trying to play the piano when you don't have any arms" - Of course that's not what you really meant, but I was in too much of a hurry to understand otherwise.
  • I can't see myself making any severe mistakes with those administrative tools but with those other mistakes, it doesn't look good. And of course a person can't always predict what they might or might do wrong. Recently I saw a nomination for administration-ship and thought "why has no one nominated me"? The answer was soon to be there waiting.
  • I'm unlikely to repeat this mistake "making false assumptions regarding a certain user and their sockpuppets". Also any 'obsessions' that I may have had with trying to weed out any ILS5 sockpuppets and trying to discourage her from evading her block have come to a mature end. But that still doesn't mean that the 'charges' have been cleared...yet.
  • Not fully understanding phrases like "level-headed" and "fall through" are simply because I'm not very familiar with them, or I simply haven't learned what they really mean.
  • Now that I'm aware of these mistakes, I'm sure I can learn from them, and spend more time on things rather than jumping ahead. With that, I'll develop into a much better editor at a remarkably quick pace - being a quick learner.

I have left similar comments on Lab and K6ka's talk pages, while most of the above has been written as a response to your particular message about whether I was ready to become an admin. -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 07:13, June 25, 2014 (UTC)

Questions Edit

Two random, yet good questions came to my mind.

Would it be possible for a bureaucrat to demote another bureaucrat against the regulations of the wiki, or would the "permission error" sign show up?

Could an administrator (acting in bad faith) block a bureaucrat by any chance? I know these may sound like random questions, but could either of them happen? -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:36, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

RE: Trait descriptions Edit

Sul! Non-Maperry1995 speaking. The descriptions of each traits (except some of them are not included) are found here. There are descriptions of aspirations too. I think there are more traits to describe the use of these but this is what I've found. ~~.ThePeculiarMe | (talk to me) | (my mistakes) 11:44, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

Request for help Edit

Hi LostInRiverview. I approved your request, and I'm here to help.

Please share with me any details you have about how you want a new background and WikiHeader image to look, and I'll get started. JoePlay WikiaStaff2.png (talk) 16:17, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

I posted a message on that forum discussion. When the community has agreed on a new design, please leave a message on my talk page, so I'll know you're ready. JoePlay WikiaStaff2.png (talk) 22:05, June 26, 2014 (UTC)

Bot requestEdit

Hiya. How are things going? I'd like to ask for help to rename Rimpelbil's fanons' property to DutchlishSim. Thank you in advance! I've been missing a lot of things, so hopefully I can catch up with stuff that's been happening lately. Nikel Talk Vote! 09:17, June 29, 2014 (UTC)

Change the Titles of ImagesEdit

Hi there. I uploaded some images here for my new signature, which were GregariousSimmerTalkSigPic and GregariousSimmerNameSigPic. The thing is that I forgot to rename them. How can I? Sorry. Thank you. --GregariousSimmerNameSigPic GregariousSimmerTalkSigPic 18:02, July 10, 2014 (UTC)

The Sims 2 Ulimate CollectionEdit

Did you also get email for that if you have The Sims 2 on Origin? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Mate1234 (talkcontribs) 20:05, July 15, 2014‎ (UTC) - Please sign your comments with ~~~~

You recently added The Sims 2 Ultimate collection to The Sims 2 Compilations page. I wanted to ask if you have The Sims 2 on your Origin account and if you do, did you get the email saying that you will get it on July 22nd. Mate1234 (Chatterbox...) 20:15, July 15, 2014 (UTC)

Picture Edit

(This request has already been posted on Nikel23's talk page, but in case he doesn't respond anytime soon, I was wondering if you could complete this request instead).

There's a recent picture I uploaded known as 'Katherine McGregory (Cheerleader)' but it was supposed to be 'Katherine Gregory (Cheerleader)'. Do you think you could remove the 'Mc' from the image title? -- C.Syde (talk | contribs) 05:40, July 20, 2014 (UTC)

Re: TS4 timeline discussion Edit

Hi,

I have followed and still following the discussion with interest. Les Sims Wiki has not yet taken a final decision, I have to discuss it further with Julien2660 (sysop) and the rest of the community. However, I do not think the tab system will be selected because it needs to edit all the pages so that everything is harmonized and it seems a little extreme as it does not seem to be many Sims returning in The Sims 4. I'll let you know when a decision will be taken.

Thanks. --Aster09 @Wikia 10:24, July 29, 2014 (UTC)

The Sims 2 ExchangeEdit

Hello I recently begun to play The Sims 2 and I wanted to ask something, I'm trying to find any official content not feactured in the game but since the exchange content for The Sims 2 is not supported anymore, please tell me:

1) Do you know where I can find content from the exchange?

2) Can you give me a place where I can find a list of the Official downloadable content?

Thanks for your time and the answers.
