The violin is a musical instrument available in The Sims 2: FreeTime, The Sims 3 as premium content from The Sims 3 Store, and The Sims 4.
The Sims 2: FreeTime
Simavarious VII Concert Violin
|
In The Sims 2: FreeTime, a violin can be played for fun by children and up. Playing it also builds the creativity skill and increases enthusiasm in the Music and Dance hobby.
A violin can be played for tips by teens and up, but will not sync with a piano, guitar, bass, or drum set. Players should note that, if FreeTime is not patched, the tip jar will leave an unusable tile after being picked up.[n 1]
There is a mod at Mod The Sims which will keep visitors from using the violin.

- Notes
- ↑ The patch will not remove tiles already created by the tip jar. The tiles must be removed using the Stuck Object Remover.
The Sims 3
Fit as a Fiddle Violin
|
In The Sims 3, the Fit as a Fiddle Violin is available as premium content from The Sims 3 Store for 749 SimPoints. It is also part of The Duke of Bows Renaissance Faire set. Downloading the set or the violin also introduces the violin skill. It can be played by Sims aged teen and above.
The Sims 4
The violin appears in The Sims 4, along with an associated violin skill. Both violins have a Fun rating of 3 and boost the player's violin skill. Until Sims reach at least level 3 in the skill, playing the violin can irritate others and in turn embarrass the player so it might be best to practice alone.
